What patients ask us most
Twelve questions we hear every week, answered the way we would answer them in the chair. Anything else: call Joanne on 01632 960 417.
Booking and costs
Yes. Book a new patient examination (45 minutes, £75) online or by phone and we usually see you within two weeks.
No, we are a private practice. Our prices are on the prices page, and you get a written plan with costs before any treatment.
Yes. Plans over £1,000 can be paid in monthly instalments over up to 12 months, with no interest. Joanne sets it up with you.
Call us at least 24 hours before and there is no charge. Later than that, we may charge £30 for a check-up slot, because someone in pain could have had it.
Treatment
You are numb before any treatment that could hurt, and we check before we start. You may feel pressure or vibration. Raise your hand and we stop, every time.
It depends on your risk of decay, from every six months to every two years. A set of check-up X-rays is about a few days of natural background radiation.
Usually gingivitis: plaque at the gumline irritating the gums. It is the one stage of gum disease that fully reverses, with a clean and better brushing.
Every instrument is washed in a washer-disinfector, inspected, steam-sterilised in an autoclave at 134 °C, then sealed in a dated pouch until it is opened in front of you.
Nerves, children and access
No. Most people who come back after a long gap are worried about exactly that. We start with a look and a talk, nothing else.
When the first tooth appears or by the first birthday. Bring them to your own check-up first if you like, so the room is familiar.
Yes: a level entrance from Mill Lane, treatment room one on the ground floor, an accessible toilet and a hearing loop at reception.
Bridge Street car park is 40 metres away and free for two hours. Two blue-badge bays are behind the practice on Mill Lane.
