HILUM
What it is
Free-rein subject, archetype E (paper-craft / soft product), unattended round 1. Goal: impress (award-level craft) while reading as a real, usable site for a fictional organisation. Audience: gardeners, cooks, seed savers. Invented brand: Hilum, a member-run lending library for heirloom beans in Ghent (fictional org in a real city). Members borrow a packet, grow it out over one summer and return a jar of dried seed; each return keeps a variety alive. "Hilum" is the botanical name of the scar on a bean where it was attached to the pod — the bean's "eye". Content: all copy written here; facts about beans in the copy are real (varieties, epigeal germination, anticlockwise twining, self-pollination, ~3-year viability, Tarbais on maize). Library numbers (packets lent, return rate) are the fictional org's own records. Pages: home, catalogue, 20 variety pages, library (how it works + join + contact), 404. Constraints: Vite + vanilla JS, GSAP + ScrollTrigger, Lenis; no image assets — every picture drawn by one canvas engine; software-rendered Chromium must stay smooth (no WebGL).
This is the build's own brief, kept as it was written. HILUM is a demonstration build: it is real, it runs, and it is not a client job.
Measured palette
Six colours sampled from the build itself, in the order they were found. They are listed because a palette is a decision, and decisions should be visible.
