Mono Apartment
Mono was an experiment in restraint. The client, a photographer, asked for a home that would never compete with the work on the walls. We chose one warm grey and used it in lime plaster, painted timber, wool and stone.
With colour removed, the design shifts to proportion and light. The living room has a single low sofa, one table and a floor lamp. Storage is hidden behind full-height panels that close flush with the walls.
The plan
21 June, 08:00 — the only direct sun, from the east. Sun computed for the site's latitude; drawings by the studio.
Wardrobe panels are painted in the wall colour and open on push latches.
