Ming House
We joined the project at the planning stage, which meant the interior could shape the architecture rather than follow it. Windows are placed for the rooms behind them, and every ceiling height was set with the furniture in mind.
Travertine, pale oak and micro-cement carry through every level. The dining table, the staircase handrail and the bed heads were made by the same joiner so the grain and finish match across the house.
The plan
21 December, 13:00 — low winter sun through the south glazing. Sun computed for the site's latitude; drawings by the studio.
Living room and study
The staircase is cast in place and finished in the same micro-cement as the floor.
