The Heron King
A heron crowns himself king of the river and bans all ripples. The frogs, who are mostly ripple, object.
The heron has stood so still for so long that he has decided he is in charge. He makes a crown from a bottle top and issues his first law: the river must be flat.
The Frog Chancellor, who is small and wears a very tall hat, explains that a river without ripples is a road, and that nobody has ever caught a fish on a road. The heron does not listen. The reeds begin to whisper.
Our most-requested play, built for the long reach below Devizes. Nineteen figures, one of them only a ripple on a rod.
