PLY designs and builds websites. Each one starts from a study of award-winning sites and ends in a real browser, on a laptop and on a phone.

64 sites since September 2026: workshops, clinics, a law practice, shops, archives and portfolios, in English and Romanian.

An independent critic scores every site against the references it was built from. We show the scores with the work, the low ones too.

(How a site gets made)

Seven steps,
the same for every site

  1. 01

    Brief

A sentence or a page from you. Or an open brief, and we choose the subject.

  2. 02

    Research

Facts about your trade from Wikipedia and Wikidata, each with its source, and archive images with their licences.

  3. 03

    Study

A library of 151 Awwwards Sites of the Day and 18 best-selling templates, timed frame by frame. One site becomes the backbone, another lends its motion.

  4. 04

    Directions

Two or three written directions, each a backbone, a motion donor and a twist from your subject. One is chosen.

  5. 05

    Build

The picture engine first, tuned on a bare lab page until no variant looks generic. Then the pages.

  6. 06

    Test

A script opens the site at 1440×900 and on a 390×844 phone, scrolls it, opens the menu, clicks every header link and records each page change frame by frame.

  7. 07

    Rate

An independent critic scores it against the reference sites. Below 8.5, the review starts the next round.

FIAMMA takes il-capo's black and red film-reel grammar and gives the one red a real meaning: pure neon glows that colour.
FIAMMARound 4 review · 8.3/10
The wall you drag is a real mosaic, and every image on the site comes from one tesserae engine that follows the andamento rows.
ANDAMENTORound 1 review · 7.8/10
The gouache wardrobe drawn in code, the try-on dress form in the hero and the pinned “Opt piese bune” capsule scene (one form dressed for Monday through Sunday) are a real idea that shows the service instead of describing it.
ANA PETRESCURound 1 review · 7.6/10
The copy is specific and practical (£6 a tile, £60 for three Thursday evenings, kiln days, address), and the procedural tiles look consistent and believable.
GLOSTRound 1 review · 7.0/10
It takes jesko-jets' warm monochrome and expanded grotesk and turns them into its own idea: the container doors act as loader, hero aperture, menu and page transition.
TRICUBERound 1 review · 8.0/10
The copy is concrete and useful, with real prices, turnaround times, an address, hours and credited archive photos.
CAPSTANRound 1 review · 8.0/10
Aimee's closed 360° diorama becomes an actual carousel pop-up book, and the book is also what the studio sells.
MOUNTAIN & VALLEYRound 1 review · 8.0/10
It still sits a step below ARDEI, STILLE and VASCA in finish and art direction.
