What the critic said, round 1
CAPSTAN works well as a reading of midlife-engineering: one object drawn in code (an open M400 you can play) carries the hero, the explorer, the repairs page and the footer, and tape becomes the site's grammar. The tape-band loader and route cover, the pinned 'one key, pressed' section with its seconds-of-tape counter, and the record stepper's tape frame are all specific to the subject and carefully drawn. The copy is concrete and useful, with real prices, turnaround times, an address, hours and credited archive photos.
