How a sitegets made
59 of our 64 sites were made between 29 September and 10 October 2026. The median one took 105 minutes from brief to the end of its last round.
PLY is a small web design studio. We make sites for workshops, practices, shops, archives and people, and we publish every one of them.
Web design covers the look, the interface, the code, how the site feels to use and how it is found. We do all of it, from the first sketch to the pages a phone downloads.
An AI model writes the code inside our pipeline. The reference library, the tests and the bar a site has to pass are ours, and so is the decision to show every score.
(Process)
Seven steps,
one layer each
- 01
Brief
A sentence or a page from you. Or an open brief, and we choose the subject.
- 02
Research
Facts about your trade from Wikipedia and Wikidata, each with its source, and archive images with their licences.
- 03
Study
A library of 151 Awwwards Sites of the Day and 18 best-selling templates, timed frame by frame. One site becomes the backbone, another lends its motion.
- 04
Directions
Two or three written directions, each a backbone, a motion donor and a twist from your subject. One is chosen.
- 05
Build
The picture engine first, tuned on a bare lab page until no variant looks generic. Then the pages.
- 06
Test
A script opens the site at 1440×900 and on a 390×844 phone, scrolls it, opens the menu, clicks every header link and records each page change frame by frame.
- 07
Rate
An independent critic scores it against the reference sites. Below 8.5, the review starts the next round.

What we study
before we draw
151 Awwwards Sites of the Day, scored 7.22 to 8.18, and 18 best-selling Framer templates. For each: the type scale in pixels, the palette in hex, the motion timed frame by frame on the live page.
A motion entry reads like this: lines rise from 100% with a 10° tilt, 0.6 to 1 second, 0.1 seconds apart. That is the level of detail a new site is built to.

How long does a site take?
The median here is 105 minutes from brief to the end of the last round. Most sites finish in one round; 17 of 59 needed more.
Can I see the sites live?
Yes. Every project page links to its live build, and the whole gallery is public.
Who writes the words?
We do, from your brief and from researched facts with sources. Nothing about your business is invented: prices, clients and hours come from you.
Which languages?
English and Romanian so far, written natively in each.
What does it cost?
We quote per brief. Tell us what the business is and what pages you need.
(For the record)
The World Wide Web was announced on 6 August 1991. CSS arrived in December 1996. The sites here use both, plus WebGL for the pictures that move.
