Two services, one standard
Where do you need us?
A Thursday in Canonbury · 3 hours · 2 people
One flat,
one morning.
- 01 · Hall floor
Dust first, then damp.
Dry-mop the grit off the oak before any water touches it, then a damp (never wet) mop, working back towards the door so nobody walks on it.
- 02 · Kitchen worktop
Marble hates vinegar.
Carrara is calcite; acids etch it in seconds. A pH-neutral stone soap, one damp cloth, one dry cloth, S-strokes from the back wall forward.
- 03 · Bathroom
Top to bottom.
Limescale lifts with a mild acid on the tiles, never on the marble next to them. Rinse, then dry the glaze so the spots don't come straight back.
- 04 · Appliances
With the grain.
Brushed steel streaks across the grain. A damp microfibre along it, then a dry one the same way, and the fingerprints go with it.
- 05 · Windows
A dry edge, every stroke.
Wet the glass, then the squeegee in S-strokes from the top, wiping the blade after every pass. Streaks are just soap left behind.
Six surfaces, six methods
Know the surface
before you touch it.
Drag across any of these to see it before and after. Every one is cleaned differently, and most damage in a home comes from using one product on everything.
Top down, S-strokes, a dry edge.
Streaks are detergent left on the pane: too much soap, or a blade that wasn't wiped between passes.
pH-neutral, always.
Marble is calcium carbonate. Lemon, vinegar and most limescale sprays dull it for good; a stone soap doesn't.
Damp, never wet.
Standing water swells the blocks and lifts the joints. Grit goes first, because grit is what scratches the lacquer.
Descale, rinse, dry.
London water is hard: the white rings are limescale. A mild acid on the glaze, a rinse, then dry it so the rings don't reappear.
It's marble, in cement.
The chips are real stone, so terrazzo is treated like marble: neutral cleaner, no bleach, no acid, and a soft pad.
Along the grain.
Fingerprints are skin oil. Microfibre along the brushing, then a dry cloth the same way. Scourers leave scratches you can't polish out.
