Lifted
What it is
Haemoglobin and other proteins. Hot water coagulates them into the fibre. On white cotton and linen, hydrogen peroxide foams on contact because blood carries the enzyme catalase.
How fast it sets
Fast. Hours, not days.
Lift with
Enzyme
protease + amylase
How we lift it
- Cold water only, from the back.
- An enzyme (protease) pre-soak breaks the protein down.
- A dab of 3% peroxide on white linen for the last shadow; it will foam.
Never
Hot water, a hot dryer or an iron until it's gone.
