Method · one cushion, one visit
Chemistry first,elbow grease last.
Scroll through a real visit on one flax-linen cushion with three marks on it. The picture is our stain engine working through the same five stages we do.
- 01
Survey
We look before we touch. Each mark gets a name and a family: coffee (tannin), gravy (fat and protein), ballpoint (dye in oil). Fibre test on a hidden seam.
- 02
Pre-treat
The right agent on each mark, from the outside in so rings don't grow. Five to twenty minutes of dwell time, never left to dry.
- 03
Agitate
A soft brush, in one direction with the pile. Chemistry does the lifting; scrubbing only spreads it.
- 04
Extract
Rinse water through, suction out. What left the cushion goes into a clear tank, so you can see it.
- 05
Dry & inspect
Air-movers, then daylight and a lamp raked across the surface. If there's a shadow, we go again.
Kit
Truck-mounted extraction isn't allowed in most tenements, so our machines are portable, 1,200-watt, with heated rinse to 60 °C for the jobs that can take it.
Water
Glasgow's water is soft, which helps: less limescale, less detergent needed. We still rinse twice so nothing is left in the fibre to attract new dirt.
Photographs
Every item, before and after, in the same raking light. You get them the same evening.
