What it is
Ballpoint ink is dye in an oily solvent paste, so water barely touches it. It feathers along individual threads as it wicks.

How we lift it
- Put an absorbent pad under it.
- Dab alcohol from the outside inwards so the ring doesn't grow.
- Change the pad as it takes the ink; then wash.
Never
Water first, or rubbing: both spread the ink.
