Live from the appointment book

Twenty minutes, starting on time.

Appointments here are twenty minutes long, and your doctor comes to the waiting-room door at the time on your text. This is today's sheet. Every apricot slot can still be booked.

A visit, by the clock

A morning appointment at Larch House

The reception desk: white marble, a warm light underneath, a plant at the end.
A doctor in a white coat at the open door of room 2, raising a hand to greet someone.
A doctor sitting at her desk, turned towards the patient, hands folded.
Hands in a white coat holding a tray of labelled blood tubes in front of a bright window.
An ultrasound machine's control panel and keyboard beside the examination couch.
A doctor typing at her desk, a small vase of flowers beside the screen.
  1. Sam at reception checks you in by name. If you're early, there's water and a seat by the window.

  2. At the time on your text, your doctor calls your name from the waiting-room door. No screens, no numbers.

  3. Time for what you came about and the thing you nearly didn't mention. An ECG takes about ten seconds to record; the rest is talking.

  4. If you need tests, Jo takes them in the treatment room straight away. Several tubes come from one needle.

  5. If you need a scan, it's in the room at the end. The doctor who scans you writes the report before you leave.

  6. Blood results reach your portal the same afternoon. Your doctor reads them first and writes you a line about what they mean.

Who runs it

“I opened Larch House because ten minutes isn't long enough to listen to anyone.”

Dr Ruth LindenGP, founder, Room 1 since 2011

Ruth has been a GP for twenty-two years and still sees patients every weekday. Seeing the same doctor over time is linked to fewer hospital admissions, so wherever we can, we book you with the person you saw last time.
