Why people come back
Three things our regulars tell their friends
Why people come back
Balayage and babylights are painted by hand, so there is no line at the root. Most colour clients come back every ten to twelve weeks; a root tint every six.
You leave with hair you can do yourself. We show you how it was dried and name the two products we used.
Every service has a from price and a duration. If your hair will take longer, we say so when you book, not at the till.

Sorrel has been at 24 Cliffe High Street since 2017, a few doors up from the bridge over the Ouse. Five of us work here: Ines, Marcus, Lotte, Priya and Fen. We cut, colour and look after hair, and we stay open till eight on Thursdays and Fridays for people who get the train back from Brighton.

An appointment, step by step

In the mirror, before anything is mixed. We look at your natural level, what is left of the last colour, and how you dry your hair at home.

Lightener is painted on by hand from the mid-lengths to the ends. Nothing goes on the root, which is why the regrowth never shows a line.

The painted hair lifts about three levels. You get a coffee, a magazine and a bond treatment in the colour.

A beige 9 toner takes the yellow out and lays the cuticle flat. The cut happens while it works, then we rinse at the basin.

Rough-dried, then a round brush and a cool shot to set the shape. We tell you what we used and how to do it on a Tuesday morning.

Late nights
The last colour appointment on a late night starts at 17:30. Cuts and blow-dries run until close.
Hours and directionsRoots show at four to six weeks. A cut softens at eight. Between visits, the aftercare page says what to wash with, what to skip and when to book the next one.
