The programme

One night, projected
and not projected.

Whatever survives of a film is shown. For the rest of its running time the lamp is dark and its title stays on the wall. Nobody talks; you can leave and come back.

  1. 21:00The leader runs, and the house lights go down.
  2. 21:10London After Midnight — the surviving stills, one every eight seconds, for as long as the film once ran.
  3. 22:30Saved from the Titanic — ten minutes of dark, and Dorothy Gibson's name read aloud.
  4. 22:45The Divine Woman — the nine minutes that came back, projected twice.
  5. 23:10Interval. Nothing is projected.
  6. 23:30The Great Gatsby — the one-minute trailer, then the dark.
  7. 00:40Names from the register, read until the lamp is struck again.
  8. First lightThe last card: The End. House lights.
