Left: Seconds of fragments
← The RegisterTheda Bara's Cleopatra, one of the most lavish productions of its decade.
Fox built it as a spectacle around its biggest star. Photographs of Theda Bara in costume are still everywhere.
The negatives are believed to have burned in the fire at Fox's film vault in Little Ferry, New Jersey, on 9 July 1937. Only fragments lasting seconds have surfaced.
