Clipper guards go up in eighths of an inch, and an eighth is about a week of growth. Tell us the number on the sides. We take it from there.
01 · The guards
Each guard leaves a line. A mid fade starts at skin behind the ear and steps up through No. ½, 1, 2 and 3 to a scissor-cut top.
02 · The blend
Blending takes the lines out. Most of a forty-minute fade goes on this, not on the first pass with the clippers.
03 · Three weeks on
Hair grows about a number a week. Three weeks on, the skin has a No. 3 on it and the blend has gone soft. That's when regulars sit back down.
