The way up
A mountaineer's ascent from the Naßfeld valley to 3,106 m. The gondola beside it carries station crew and emergency traffic, not visitors.
Four waypoints

The road ends and the climb starts, at the head of the Naßfeld valley.
Neubau
The intermediate hut on the classic route, the last easy roof of the day.
Rojacher Hut
Ignaz Rojacher built the first hut here in 1876/77, while working the abandoned gold mines of the massif.
The observatory
Ridge sections below the summit. High-alpine equipment, a weather window, and the patience of a 14-day shift.
About the cable car
Opened on 20 November 2018 with its official run on 23 June 2019: a six-person gondola rated to 80 km/h of wind. In regular operation it serves the crew and emergencies. Plan the climb on foot.
Leave a route note
For the page's own log. It is not an official channel; nothing reaches the summit crew from here.
Before you go
No. In regular operation it carries station crew and emergency traffic only. The summit is reached on foot via the Rojacher Hut.
It is a working observatory: two technicians, 14-day shifts, more than 40 measurement programs a year. There is no visiting schedule on this page.
A classic high-alpine route with ridge sections near the top, above 2,700 m from the hut onward. Go with a guide and a weather window.
The Rojacher Hut at 2,718 m is the traditional stop before the summit push; Neubau at 2,175 m covers the lower stage.
