About
I'm Stefan, a web designer and software developer. I work on my own, two projects at a time, for small businesses, studios and start-ups that want one person who answers for the whole site.
How I work, as a box
Every element on a web page is a box with four layers. Mine look like this.
A project, week by week
- Week 1
Call and brief
A 30-minute call, then a one-page brief you sign off: goals, pages, deadline, price.
- Weeks 2–3
Boxes and type
The layout of every page at phone and desktop width, with your real words in it.
- Weeks 3–6
Build
Front-end and back-end in parallel, on a private link that updates every day.
- Launch week
Test and ship
Real phones, slow connections, screen readers. Then the domain switches over.
What I use
Design
Figma, a notebook, the browser's own inspector.
Front-end
HTML, CSS, TypeScript, Astro, SvelteKit, React when a project already uses it.
Back-end
Node, PostgreSQL, SQLite, REST and webhooks, Stripe for payments.
After launch
Git, automatic deploys, uptime checks, analytics that don't track people.
