Windows 10 is out of support: what ESU costs, year by year
Support ended on 14 October 2025. For businesses, Extended Security Updates double in price every year: $61, $122, $244 per device.
Microsoft ended support for Windows 10 on 14 October 2025, apart from LTSC editions and devices enrolled in Extended Security Updates (ESU). Windows 11 had overtaken Windows 10 as the most used version in June 2025.
ESU for businesses
- Year 1: $61 per device.
- Year 2: $122 per device.
- Year 3: $244 per device, running to October 2028.
- Managed from the cloud via Intune: 25% off.
ESU for private users
Consumers could pay $30 for one year, and in July 2025 Microsoft added a free option. The consumer period was first set to end on 13 October 2026 and has since been extended to 12 October 2027.
Upgrade or replace
Windows 10 was the last version to run on 32-bit processors, BIOS firmware and machines without TPM 2.0. Check each device: many upgrade for free, some need replacing, and the ESU fee makes waiting more expensive each year.
